Right from a groggy shower, where we squeeze an unconcerned shampoo bottle on to our palms and sloppily massage it all over our head, to applying a rather generous amount of night-cream on our uneven skin praying to a couple of gods that the heightened quantity could do the trick. These are a few mistakes we’re making everyday without knowing they could be bad for us.
After a terrible few instances of ‘hyperseborrhea‘, which is essentially, using too much of a product on your skin that makes the oil (the sebaceous glands that secrete sebum) go into overdrive and end up making too much oil that it starts to harm your skin. I read up extensively about what you’re supposed to use- how- and a few tricks to go about managing the quantity of your daily beauty products.
I’ve raided my common drugstore products and please note, the ones where I haven’t used products are the images where you must use products depending on your skin type or hair type- I wouldn’t endorse any for general use.
- Night Cream: 1 Blueberry
Any more of this might make your skin too dry/ oily or sensitive– this is the maximum quantity that works on any skin type.
2. Shampoo = 1 Strawberry
Shampoos can aggravate the scalp and lead to hair loss because a lot of chemicals like Sodium Laureyth Sulphate etc, for longer hair, dilute this amount with water. For super short hair, lesser amounts are welcomed by your scalp 🙂
3. Conditioner = 1 Cherry
The conditioner needs to be applied ONLY on the last 3 inches of your hair strand before it is left on for about 3 minutes and then washed off. More conditioner can make your hair oily or even irritate your scalp and lead to hair loss.
4. Moisturiser = 2 Raisins for any body part
Simply because, any more of this has no incremental benefit. What can be done is, use a non-oily moisturiser every time you wash your hands/ bathe.
5. Face Cleanser = 1 Hazelnut
Any more of this will strip your skin off the essential oils and make it dry. Perhaps even scaly during winters. You’re going to start seeing signs of ageing must faster if your skin keeps losing its own oils everyday.
6. Hair Styling Drops= 2 Cherries
Again, these are not to be applied anywhere close to the roots because they have horrific effects on the scalp that can go up to massive hair loss. Apply this to your roots to partly wet hair for best effects.
7. Sunscreen = 1 Grape per body part
Any more of this can actually give you irritated skin and a lot of acne. With sunscreen too, I prefer matte spray-on sunscreens ( with a little bronzer in them) and reapply after 2 hours in the sun. Again, any more of this won’t incrementally save you from the sun.
8. Hair Serums = 1 Strawberry
While hair serums are supposed to heal the hair strand and are moderately damaging, any more of a serum application can lead to limp hair and a weakened hair strand. Serums are only to be applied to the hair strand that falls below your ears.
